Relative successes: mother, daughter earn education degrees together

Jodi Moore and Erin Sester were thrilled to watch each other cross the Commencement stage at Aurora University. Moore graduated with a Doctor of Education degree. Sester had just earned a Master of Arts in Special Education. Nothing more special than a couple of AU buddies supporting each other, right? The occasion was, in fact, exceedingly special — because Moore is Sester’s mother.

Doctor of Education student named DuPage Region Principal of the Year

While “Principal of the Year” awards are given as individual honors, Gloria Trejo views her recognition as a collaborative achievement. Trejo, an Aurora University Doctor of Education student, was recently named the Horace Mann/Illinois Principals Association DuPage Region 2017–2018 Elementary School Principal of the Year.

Sarah Radtke, assistant professor in the School of Education and Human Performance, was presented with the Marcus and Mark H. Trumbo Award for Excellence in Teaching during the 2017 undergraduate commencement ceremony. The award is Aurora University’s most prestigious faculty honor.

Seventh-grade students at the John C. Dunham STEM Partnership School at Aurora University last week took a “field trip” to explore shipwrecks at the bottom of Wisconsin’s Geneva Lake – all without leaving their classroom or even getting wet.
