Students gearing up for Homecoming

Posted by on September 27, 2013

homecomingspiritThe leaves are starting to change colors, cooler breezes are sweeping across the Quad and the football team is practicing on Vago Field. These hints of fall signify one of the most exciting times of the year to be a Spartan: Homecoming!

As alumni prepare to return to their alma mater next weekend, students are busy making plans for the days leading up to and during Homecoming 2013 on October 4–6. “We tried to plan events that students could enjoy throughout the week,” said Activities Programming Board Special Events Co-chair Shelby Robinson. “We’re going to have great activities ranging from balloon art to a photo booth station. I’m really looking forward to Spartan Spirit Night, too. It’s such a fun Friday evening event on campus.”

The Homecoming theme this year, “Unmasque Your AU Spirit,” invites students to show their Spartan pride in a variety of ways. The theme was developed by the student-led Activities Programming Board (APB).

“Next week we’re asking students to uncover their inner Spartan spirit,” said APB Co-chair Sarah Schilling. “Homecoming is when so many memories are made and friendships are created or strengthened. It’s the perfect time for students to come together to ‘unmasque’ their AU pride.”
