Free tax-preparation service to open February 23 at Aurora University

Since Aurora University introduced the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in 2002, AU tax preparers have helped generate more than $2.5 million in refunds for local taxpayers and saved them an estimated $375,000 in tax-preparation fees.

Aurora University today announced that James Hamad, currently Associate Director of Athletics for Student Development at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., has been named its new Athletic Director. Hamad will join the university in late February.

The Schingoethe Art Gallery at Aurora University opened its annual high school art show on Monday, January 7, which features the works of students at nearby Aurora Christian High School.

Aurora University introduces principal preparation program to begin in June 2013

Aurora University announces that the Illinois State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board (SEPLB) approved a 36-semester hour Master of Arts in Education Leadership – Principal Endorsement Program. The program, collaboratively designed by Aurora University and numerous area school districts, will begin in June 2013.

AU students receive award of excellence

In September, the Schingoethe Center added to its list of award-winning exhibits, receiving an Award of Excellence in Exhibitions from the Illinois Association of Museums (IAM) for “Unraveling Revelations: Decoding the Prophetic Charts,” an exhibit curated by students in the Aurora University spring 2012 MST2200 Museum Exhibitions course. On Monday, December 3, Donna Sack, President of IAM, visited the Aurora University campus to present the class with the award.
