Tired of lame-stream media? Then you need to get to know Aurora University Spartan Media (AUSM), a student organization dedicated to publicizing the truth and nothing but the truth — as well as well-reasoned opinion, sports, and cultural and entertainment news — to the AU community.

640px-triviaBy way of introduction, AUSM will be holding its first Trivia Event on Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the Dunham Hall Atrium from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

If you can distinguish real news from the fake stuff, you have a more than fighting chance to win a fabulous prize (yummy candy) for each of your correct answers. Students, staff and faculty are all welcome to participate.

You’ll also have the chance to learn more about how to become part of AUSM.

“Aurora University Spartan Media makes me feel like I am a part of something greater than just an organization,” said senior Jennifer Stark, an account manager on the AUSM PR team. “I’ve met some of my best friends by being a member.”

And it’s not just for communication majors, either, according to Stark. Joining AUSM will not only enrich your college experience, the skills you learn will be useful in whatever career you pursue.

Aurora University Spartan Media meets every Wednesday at 3:55 p.m. To learn more about the organization and to see what they do, visit the AUSM website or contact faculty advisors Matt Kneller ( and Heidi Schlumpf (
