Students gear up for Homecoming Week

Students are preparing to celebrate a special Homecoming this year with festivities commemorating the 100-year anniversary of the institution’s move from Mendota to Aurora and activities centered around the theme “Back to the Future.”

Wackerlin Center invites “A Gathering of Spirits for the Common Good”

Aurora University will host a unique evening of song and spoken word featuring noted philosopher and author Parker J. Palmer and singer-songwriter Carrie Newcomer on Saturday, September 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Crimi Auditorium. The sold out program, “Healing the Heart of Democracy: A Gathering of Spirits for the Common Good,” will offer an opportunity for reflection and renewal, challenging the audience to imagine and live into “the politics of the human spirit.”

Service initiatives inspire students to change the world

University-sponsored volunteer activities, such as the semiannual Morning of Service, are motivating students to give back on a larger scale. Last summer, some Aurora University students pursued their desire to work for the common good beyond their local communities and to study different cultures.

Schingoethe Center receives Award of Excellence in Exhibitions

The Schingoethe Center recently added to its list of award-winning exhibits, receiving an Award of Excellence in Exhibitions from the Illinois Association of Museums for “Unraveling Revelations: Decoding the Prophetic Charts.”

In honor of Hispanic Heritage month, which is celebrated September 15 to October 15, “Unyielding Light: Paintings and Prints by Emilio Sanchez” will be on display at the Aurora University Schingoethe Art Gallery from September 20 to December 7.
