Ignacio “Nacho” Cervantes, AU ’14, grew up being inspired by his parents. They worked hard and always encouraged him to follow his dreams, which he never forgets as he moves through life and focuses on his goals.
On Friday, January 25, Aurora University hosted Understanding and Implementing Next Generation Science Standards, a workshop for area elementary, middle and high school teachers.
The culture was radically different. Poverty was ubiquitous. Local children had not eaten for days. Many did not have electricity or running water. These were the conditions eight AU students encountered in Mandeville, Jamaica, during their May Term 2012 study with Jeffrey Bulanda, Assistant Professor of Social Work.
The Phillips Library staff is passionate about reading and knows many Aurora University students are, too. To encourage dialogue among students and the AU community, the librarians started a Virtual Book Club through Facebook.
