Tellabs Foundation awards $1 million to Aurora University to fund facilities and scholarships for high school STEM initiative

The Tellabs Foundation recently awarded $1 million to develop, house and provide scholarships for a new STEM education program at Aurora University that is targeted at high school students.

Aurora University alumna named Social Worker of the Year

Mary Abbott, who completed her master’s degree in social work at Aurora University in 1997 and now teaches in the university’s social work program, was named Statewide Social Worker of the Year by the Illinois Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

The Simms Family Foundation, represented by John and Michelle Simms of Lake Geneva, have made the lead gift to the George Williams College of Aurora University (GWC) nursing center, which will now be called the Simms Family Nursing Center.

The Aurora University community is seeing what 12 students have spotted with their digital cameras in the exhibition, “The Art of Observation,” currently on display in Phillips Library. The images, taken in the Introduction to Digital Photography course, explore a range of subject matter and approaches to picture making.

NOLOS isn’t just for English majors anymore, according to Sandra Marchetti, advisor to the Aurora University student-run literary journal. In fact, under her direction over the past year and a half, NOLOS has taken a variety of steps to diversify both its contributor base and its staff.
