Amy Scheller didn’t grow up planning to be a firefighter. But while a student at Aurora University, she volunteered at the Montgomery Fire Department and found her passion.
The new AU Office of Off-Campus Housing, which was established this fall, introduced the Good Neighbor Program as a way to encourage positive behavior and productive relationships with local residents.

The 28-year-old St. Charles resident, Aurora University graduate and current AU doctoral student is a virtual teaching tornado at Haines Middle School in St. Charles. Byrne’s professional talents earned the six-year employee of Community Unit School District 303 her school’s first-ever nomination for the Illinois Teacher of the Year Award.
Aurora University student Ignacio “Nacho” Cervantes made history this fall. In a ceremony at the East Aurora School District service center, the AU sophomore criminal justice major became the youngest member of the East Aurora School Board.
