This week the Aurora University Athletic program is celebrating NCAA Division III Week.
The university sponsors 24 Div. III men’s and women’s teams, which engage some 20 percent of the university’s student body. Student-athletes from as far as away as Canada, Hawaii and Australia find a home at AU to pursue their academic dreams as well as participate in a variety of sports — from basketball and football, to softball, and track and field.
And AU’s athletics program continues to grow. The university will add men’s volleyball and women’s hockey teams to the lineup for the 2017-2018 season.
The athletics program is expanding physically, too. The university recently purchased 75 acres near its west-Aurora campus upon which to build new athletic fields and facilities during the next decade.
At Aurora University, students are encouraged to pursue their interests and passions beyond the classroom, dedicate themselves to achieving their potential and develop into well-rounded adults — all goals shared by the NCAA and the 12-member National Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), of which AU is a member.
