AU Wellness Center promoting living a balanced life through free exercise classes

ZumbaIf you’re looking to stay healthy and active this fall, the AU Wellness Center is here to help! The center’s Wellness Works program is designed to encourage students, faculty and staff to get moving, eat healthy and manage stress. Throughout the semester, there are a variety of events and workshops that members of the AU community can attend to learn how to incorporate these principals into their busy lifestyle.

The free group exercise classes are a highlight of the program. The classes are open to all students on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“I want to make it easy for students to build their healthy habits and fit these classes into their busy schedules,” said Cheryl Block, Director of the Wellness Center.

Carolina Gutierrez, AU ’14, is glad there are on-campus classes that she can attend throughout the week. “Overall the classes are great! Each day there is a different class and you never get bored,” she said. “It has benefited me to want to work out and stay active.”

The following classes are taking place during the fall 2013 semester:

Monday: 3, 2, 1 Class
(3 minute- weights, 2 minute- cardio, 1 minute- abdominal work for 1 hour)
5:15-6:15 p.m.
Activity Room, Lower Level- Alumni Hall
Now-December 9

Tuesday: Spin Class
Noon-1:00 p.m.
Fitness Center, Jenks Hall
Now-October 15
*Important:  Please bring your own towel, water bottle and be sure to wear gym shoes!

Wednesday: Pilates
Noon-1:00 p.m.
Activity Room, Lower Level of Alumni Hall
Now – October 16

Thursday: Zumba
5:30-6:30 p.m.
Activity Room, Lower Level of Alumni Hall
Now-December 5
